Kazakhstan's joining NATO program "Planning and analysis process", announced on 7 June in the organisation's headquarters in Brussels, became a significant event, reflecting the realities of the modern Central Asian situation. And not only because it is the first Central Asian country participating in such program. What is important is that Kazakhstan enters a constantly developing space of international activities, where the relationships between the traditional and the new allies are complicated by serious contradictions of interests in the region. 621
