At today's joint sitting of the Parliament of Kazakhstan President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev delivered his State-of-the-Nation Address "Socio-Economic Modernization as Main Vector of Development of Kazakhstan". The state of emergency imposed in the town of Zhanaozen, Mangystau region, by the President's Decree on December 17 last year was completed. As President N.Nazarbayev noted in his Address to the Nation "The socioeconomic modernization - the main vector of development of Kazakhstan", the situation in Zhanaozen has normalized; hence it was decided not to prolong the state of emergency. The life in the city and in the region returns to normal, and this shows the stability of our state, our society's ability to remain calm and patience in the difficult situations. 959
Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov will pay the first official visit to the United States between Jan. 30 and Feb.1, 2012. The Minister will hold talks with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries. On top of the agenda is strengthening comprehensive bilateral cooperation encompassing shared priorities of nuclear non-proliferation, regional cooperation, Afghanistan, trade and investment, energy and democracy. 942
