Government reviewed further implementation of Industrialization Map

A session of the Government focused on the issues of further implementation of the Forced Industrialization Program in the context of the President’s Address to the Nation was held today. Prime Minister Karim Massimov chaired the sitting.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has emphasized in his recent Address to the Nation that implementation of the State Program of Forced Industrial-Innovative Development of the country remains the main indicator of economic modernization.

389 projects totaling KZT 1.8 trln were launched over two years. 90 thousand new jobs were created. One of the important issues is attainment of projected capacity by the launched industrial projects.

Besides, the issue of improving the quality of Kazakhstani products becomes another key direction of implementation of the Forced Industrialization Program. Special attention in implementation of the State Program will be paid to the regions.

“We must ensure the launch of 130 projects by the yearend. We launched an upgrade of the Industrialization Map. The selection of projects is tightened. Special emphasis will be placed on innovations, Kazakh content, energy efficiency, high added value,” Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev said at the session.

The President in his Address set task to launch 11 big projects this year. Five projects have already been included into the Industrialization Map. In particular, these are the projects on reconstruction of “West Europe – West China” transit corridor, construction of Balkhash Thermal Power Plant, construction of an integrated gas-chemical complex in Atyrau region of LLP “KPI”, construction of a deep oil refinery complex at the Atyrau Oil Refinery Plant, establishment of Burabai tourism center. The rest of the projects will be included into the Map in the nearest future.

K.Massimov instructed Minister of Economic Development and Trade B.Sagintayev to analyze the relevance of projects implemented within the Industrialization Map at the session.

“We need to upgrade the Industrialization Map taking into account the global trends so that we could critically assess the achieved results and our plans for the future,” Karim Massimov said.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that despite the global economic trends the tasks set by the President on implementation of the Industrialization Map should be fulfilled.
